7/29/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: A popular Australian tourist attraction that offers tours in several languages has added a new one: Klingon. I'm holding out for the Pig Latin tour as I am fluent in Pig Latin. Outgoing BP exec Tony Hayward will receive a pension of $1,000,000 a year despite the fact he botched the oil leak situation in the gulf. Don't we wish we all had jobs where we could cost our companies billions of dollars, yet be rewarded for it. 7/28/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:A would be robber at a Canadian Starbuck's pushed his way through a line to the register and demanded money. The eagle eyed thief didn't see the two cops standing in line and was immediately arrested. St Nicholas Hospital has two great programs for cancer survivors in the month of August. Find out more here. 7/27/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:7/26/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:7/25/10-Thanks to all of the nice people out in St. Nazianz yesteday making us feel welcome at the charity softball game to benifit the Savannah's Pay It Forward Foundation. The Valders Fire Department beat a scrappy Calumet County Dive and Rescue Squad 9-4. After the game, SPIFF presented a check for $6,000 to the Calumet County Dive and Rescue Team. Here's more info about SPIFF. 7/23/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: The rain really caused some issues all over South Central and South Eastern Wisconsin yesterday. Most people in our area came up okay, but in Milwaukee, especially on the Northeast and Southeast sides, not so much. Mitchell Airport got so much rain, they've closed until mid morning Friday and the Brewers game may be in jeopardy because of flooding on Miller Park Way. There was even a twenty-foot sinkhole that swallowed an SUV! With more rain on the way this weekend, the best rule is to call ahead or monitor internet reports to see where the trouble spots are and the best way to avoid them. This weekend is the 2nd Annual SPIFF Olympics to benefit Savannah's Pay It forward Foundation. The money raised this weekend will assist several local schools and charitable organizations. Here's a complete schedule of events. If you attend the softball game Sunday at 4pm, you might hear a familiar voice doing PA. And no, I don't mean Chris Logan! 7/22/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:Happy National Hot Dog Day! Today, everyone is a wiener and will relish the opportunity to celebrate. When it comes to hot dogs, I prefer the Chicago style version, complete with neon green relish. And no ketchup, ever!
7/21/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:St. Nicholas Hospital has plenty of exciting and informative back to school programs for the entire family this fall. Here are just a few. Home Alone is designed for kids who will not have parental supervision after school. There's also a class for potential and active pre-teen and teen babysitters. St Nicholas also has bike helmets available to kids who are planning on biking to school. 7/20/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:Ladies, are you looking to increase your bust size while sneaking beverages into sporting events, movies, concerts and other venues? Then we have the bra for you. Meet the Wine Rack. Airline travelers are worried that with full body scanners, airport workers will see more than the traveler bargained for. Fortunately, a new product, "Flying Pasties" help alleviate fears by covering sensitive areas. Experts say the full body scanners only show an outline, so this product is probably overkill. Fans of the recently canceled FX show "Damages" got good news yesterday. The show has been rescued by Direc TV, meaning you have to have be a subscriber to see it. This continues the trend started by "Friday Night Lights."7/19/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 7/16/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: More weird fair food. At the California State Fair, you can enjoy python, alligator or frog kabobs, deep fried scorpions (covered in chocolate), chocolate covered bacon and dep fried Twinkies and moon pies. I think I'll stick to cream puffs.
7/15/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 7/14/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Ever have a kidney stone? Ouch! How do you prevent them? This morning, Dr. Jeffery Welsch from Prevea gave us some tips (hint, it has to do with drinking lots of water.)
7/13/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Now that the world cup is over, there is another major event America is focused on: The Redneck Games.
7/12/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 7/9/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 7/8/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Say so long to McDonald's "Big & Tasty" and "Big Mac Snack Wrap." The fast food giant is discontinuing the items because they aren't selling. They are, however, adding oatmeal to the breakfast menu. How do you determine if your weight is correct? Measure your neck. I measured mine and it said my weight was fine...for a family of four.
7/7/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: A restaurant manager in Rock Island, IL decided to take his $20,000 deposit to a casino where he would add to the amount and pocket the profits. Unfortunately, he wasn't a very good gambler and lost the whole thing. His consolation prize? A nice, gently worn, orange jumpsuit. New at the 2010 Iowa State Fair: The Twinkie Log, which is a frozen Twinkie dipped in white chocolate and rolled in crushed pecans. Susie from St Nicholas Hospital dropped by for a few minutes to thank all who participated in this year's race. This year, they had one of their best turnouts ever, which meant they raised lots of money for some important hospital causes. Thanks for your help!
7/6/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: On TV, when the cops arrest someone, they read them their rights, part of which are "you have the right to remain silent. If you give up the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law." That apparently applies to Facebook as well. Divorce lawyers are making a killing mining information from social networking sites and using it in contested cases.
7/3/10-Thanks to all of the great folks at the St. Nicholas Hospital Freedom Run for their courtesy and good works. We enjoyed our second year out there and we look forward to next year. Here are the results from this year's race. 7/2/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
7/1/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: A driver in Ohio was arrested for fifth offense drunk driving. His name? Donald Duck. I guess if you had to go through life with a name like that, you'd drink a lot, too. Just ordering a pizza must be hilarious. "Name, please?" "Last name Duck, first name Donald." "Sure pal, why don't you order a pizza from Mickey Mouse!" (Click) I just wonder if he was wearing pants.
6/30/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: While I enjoy Vodka and I enjoy smoked salmon, I think combining the two would be strange. Someone did. Dr. Jeff Corrigan is a family practice specialist who has served the area since 1999. He's now in Plymouth working for Prevea and St. Nicholas Hospital. Dr. Corrigan joined us this morning for a few minutes to talk about his practice.
6/29/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Coming October 5th, Bogie in Blue Ray. Warner Brothers home movies is releasing "Humphrey Bogart: The Essential Collection", 24 movies on twelve blue ray discs. The set contains his most famous movie "Casablanca" and his best movie with eventual fourth wife Lauren Bacall, "To Have and Have Not." Can you tell someone around here is a Bogart nut? Here's looking at you, kid!
6/28/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: At the Daytime Emmys last night, "As The World Turns" is leaving in style as the show won for both best actor and actress in it's final season. Ellen won for best talk show, Oprah Dr. Oz won for best talk show host and Giada won for best food show. There was also a touching tribute to Dick Clark. A woman who was visiting friends apparently fell out a third story window, landed on the hood of a car, became disoriented (wouldn't you be) and wound up sleeping on a neighbor's couch. No, this isn't an episode of "Friends" or "The Drew Cary Show", this really happened.
6/25/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: We've talked before about the KFC Double Down Sandwich, the sandwich which features two pieces of chicken that serves as the bun. Well, that is about to change. KFC has retooled the sandwich to now feature a regular bun and one less piece of chicken. So, now it's become just another chicken sandwich. I thought the point was to have no bun.
6/24/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: A Burger King employee in Pennsylvania exchanged words with a customer before the customer called his a less than acceptable name. The employee asked a manager to clock him out, then went to the parking lot and clocked the customer. The employee was arrested for assault, but not on company time. An attorney in Miami set off a metal detector with her underwire bra. So, she retreated to the ladies room and removed it. She was then told it was against the rules to enter the jail sans bra. You have a right to an attorney so long as they meet the dress code.
6/23/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: It's the 26th annual St. Nicholas Hospital Freedom run, July 3rd beginning at seven. Our friend Susie from St. Nicholas Hospital stopped by this morning and told us all about it, including information about the newly re-designed medals. Here's where you can sign up.
6/22/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 6/21/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 6/20/10-Happy Father's Day! That's my daughter, Jordan. She's 20 now!
6/18/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 6/17/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: The new show "Hot In Cleveland" debuted last night on TV Land starring Betty White and the sultry Valerie Bertinelli (sigh.) Here's a review. Father's day is this Sunday. Are you looking for something for dad in a hurry? Jason at Menard's in Manitowoc says there are lots of cool things there for dad.
6/16/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Another man in Massachusetts was arrested for attempting to rob a donut shop in April. His defense? The cashier misunderstood him. The man claims he said "I want a honey bun" not "Give me the money, I have a gun." I'm not buying it. Need care fast? Don't have time to visit the doctor? Try St. Nicholas Hospital Fast Care. We had Sue on this morning and she said that for a variety of services like BP screenings, colds, flu shots, etc., they can get you in and out in a hurry.
6/15/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: First it was in flight meals, then free luggage. Now the NTSB may ban peanuts, not because of costs but because some people have peanut allergies. And of course, why should get something I might like if the guy next to me can't enjoy it too.
6/14/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 6/11/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: What's your favorite ballpark food? A recent survey reveals most of you prefer brats over hot dogs (duh, this is Wisconsin) and that 60% prefer Pizza over Bar B Que. Personally, I think it varies from ballpark to ballpark. Some ballparks have great hot dogs (Dodger Stadium in LA, Fenway Park in Boston) while others have great brats (Miller Park). Some even have really good Italian Sausage (U.S. Commiskey Park)
6/10/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 6/9/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Feeling breathless? Dr. Francisco Soto of St. Nicholas Hospital you don't have to live like that. For more information, call 458-5864.
6/8/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: A bus driver in Birmingham, England was suspended after traffic cameras caught him reading a book while driving a bus. That must have been some book! A Waffle House employee in Murfreesboro, TN, attempted to stop some patrons who walked out without paying by jumping on the hood of their car. While riding at speeds of almost 60mph, he fished out his cellphone and called the cops who eventually got Luke and Bo Duke to pull over.
6/7/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: What do you do when you are a popular radio personality and you want someone memorable to play at your (fourth) wedding? You hire Elton John for $1 million. Princess and I were so poor when we got married we just turned the radio up.
6/4/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 6/3/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 6/2/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: St. Nicholas Hospital has a wonderful speech pathologist named Wendy who is happy to work with you. Find out more here.
6/1/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: We lost a couple of celebrities over the weekend. Gary Coleman, star of "Different Stroke" died of injuries from a fall at 42 while Dennis Hopper died at age 74. A woman cleaning out a shed in Michigan discovered over 600 pieces of undelivered mail. Her brother, a former mailman now living in Florida put the mail there when he became overwhelmed with his job. No wonder I never got that foreclosure notice.
5/28/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: If you were under the impression that TNT would pick up new episodes of Law & Order, you apparently got bad data. TNT says "Not interested."Guess who is throwing out the green flag at the Indy 500? Jack Nicholson.
5/27/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 5/26/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Your 2010 "Dancing With Stars" Champion: Nicole Scherzinger. I thought for sure the Disney fix was in and Erin Andrews would win, but I was wrong.
5/25/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 5/24/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: It was a slow weekend at the movie box office as the final installment of "Shrek" took first place, grossing $71 million. As expected, "MacGruber" finished way in the back on the pack with only a $4.1 million take. Given the price of show tickets these days, that breaks down to 13 people went to see it.
5/21/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 5/20/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: What gets served at a state dinner? All kinds of things you never heard of like Oregon Wagyu Beef in Oaxacan Black Mole with Black Bean Tamalon and Grilled Green Beans and Herb Green Ceviche of Hawaiian Opah with sesame-Cilantro Crackers. You'd think with the economy being what it is, the Obamas could have just called Jimmy John's. Last night on "American Idol" it was so long Casey. That leaves Lee and Crystal to fight it out for the championship.
5/19/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: The wound care center at St. Nicholas Hospital wants to remind diabetics that foot care is vital. To find out more about how they can help you, click here.
5/18/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: We've warned you and warned you, what you put up on Facebook, My Space or other social sites is seen by everyone, including your employer. A waitress in North Carolina found that out when, after writing some not so nice things about some customers, she was fired. The company claims it has a policy in place that forbids employees from speaking badly of the company or its' customers. As much as I hate lawsuits, here's one I would like to see.
5/17/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 5/15/10-We spent a couple of hours at Menard's today talking about their "Made in the USA" sale. Thanks to Joe and the crew for being great hosts and for all the people who came by to get some Mt. Olympus Tickets. 5/14/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 5/13/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 5/12/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Proof again that what you see on TV isn't necessarily true: Five TV stations in Missouri in Wisconsin were tricked into putting a "yo yo champion" on the air. He wasn't. If you are concerned about your cholesterol, St. Nicholas Hospital will be having a screening on May 18. Get more info here.
5/11/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: If you are helping plan college for your kids, here are some majors to steer them toward if you expect them to take care of you in your twilight years. By the way, radio communications is not on this list. You are on your own Mom and Dad! St. Nicholas Hospital will be at Road America selling and fitting bicycle helmets for kids entered in the Big Wheel races. For more info, check out their website.
5/10/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 5/7/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 5/6/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 5/5/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: St. Nicholas Hospital is offering a program to recognize "National Skin Cancer Month" including a free skin cancer screening. Find out more here.
5/4/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: A man who ran out onto the field during a Phillies-Cardinals game in Philadelphia was finally subdued by a cop using a taser. The Philly police department promises an investigation? An investigation? I'd hand that police officer a medal!
<5/3/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Last night on "60 Minutes" Conan O'Brien told his tale. I've decided, that it's more NBC's than Jay Leno's fault, but no matter who you point the finger at, Conan got a raw deal.
4/30/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 4/29/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Thieves in Brooklyn, NY made off with five Torah scrolls from a Jewish Synagogue. I guess they were really on a roll. 4/28/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 4/27/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 4/26/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 4/23/10-H, ere's what we talked about this morning: 4/22/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 4/21/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Are there fast food products worse for you than the new 540 calorie KFC "Double Down?" You betcha. It's National Volunteer Week and St. Nicholas Hospital is saluting all it's volunteers. For more information on volunteering at the hospital, visit their website.
4/20/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 4/19/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: George Washington may not have told a lie, but he was less than honest in returning library books. Historians have discovered a two books that he checked out of a library in 1789 that were never returned. The fines are now somewhere in the neighborhood of $300,000. That's a lot of Benjamins!
4/16/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: What's next for Oprah? How about a reality show? Beginning with the launch of the new Oprah network in January of 2011, viewers will get to watch behind the scenes footage of the Oprah talk show which will end sometime next year.
4/15/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 4/14/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Have you heard about the new, "sandwich" at KFC? It's called the "double down" and is comprised of two pieces of boneless chicken breast (used as bread) two slices of bacon, two slices of cheese and a sauce, which by most reports is similar to peppercorn ranch. If you are calorie conscious, you can get the grilled instead of the fried chicken as your "bread." Reviews have been mixed and some have tried to save the six bucks by making it at home. I haven't tried one yet and probably won't. Then again, I'm the make it at home type anyway. Recently, my wife Princess had neck surgery to correct three crushed vertebrae in her neck. As part of her recovery, she worked with occupational therapists who helped her regain her ability to do simple tasks like put her shoes and socks on and walk without the use of a walker or cane. They did a great job with her. In honor of National Occupational Therapy month, St. Nicholas Hospital is honoring their Occupational Therapists and hosting some special programs. These folks do some great work!
4/13/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 4/12/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Celebrity author Kitty Kelley has a new book coming out tomorrow...about Oprah. Kelley claims Oprah had a 70's relationship with John Tesh and that Oprah's mom has to call an assistant to get through to her daughter. Kelly has penned celebrity books about Nancy Reagan, the Royal family, the Bush family and Frank Sinatra.
04/09/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: San Francisco Giants outfielder Eugenio Velez may not have noticed, but someone did. The name "San Francisco" was mis-spelled on the front of his uniform. Technically, this is in violation of Major League Baseball's uniform policy, which says all uniforms must be exactly the same (except obviously for the players name and number.) Of course, modern MLB players only notice if their name is mis-spelled.
4/8/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: A judge in Colorado was fired after issuing an arrest warrant for an overdue library fine. The judge issued a bench warrant for a man who failed to return a DVD to the library. When the man was pulled over for a minor traffic violation, he was held in jail for eight hours until he was bailed out. This guy is so tough, he'd probably invoke capital punishment for parking tickets.
4/7/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: St. Nicholas Hospital is hosting a mature driving class on April 22nd. He, re's more info.
4/6/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Ever get a scam e-mail so bad it made you laugh? I did. Here it is.
4/5/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: There are planned reboots for "The Rockford Files" and "Hawaii 5-0." in the works at NBC and CBS. Here's a list of cop shows they should never try to remake.
4/2/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 4/1/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Poor Denard Span. The Minnesota Twins outfielder invited his mom to watch him play at a spring training game. Span led off the game fouling a ball off and wait for it... hitting his mother. If I were Denard, I'd be in Vegas right now, because the odds of that happening are pretty slim. Activists want McDonald's to fire Ronald McDonald because they believe he entices youngsters to eat fast food. McDonald's has told them they have no plans to retire Ronald.
3/31/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: If you or someone you know has arthritis, St. Nicholas Hospital has a wide assortment of programs during Arthritis Awareness Month in May. Get more info by clicking here.
3/30/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 3/29/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 3/27/10-Princess and I watched "The Blind Side" tonight. It's a great family movie. I thought Princess was going to lose it when Sandra Bullock's character said "Who died and made him Bear Bryant?" Princess is from Alabama and is a huge Alabama football fan! 3/26/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 3/25/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Actor Robert Culp has died. He was part of the groundbreaking 1960's series "I Spy" which paired Culp with a black partner that was his equal. He was also the gruff FBI agent in "The Greatest American Hero." Robert Culp was 79.
3/24/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Former West Wing star Richard Schiff and Forrest Gump's Robin Wright are heading to Broadway to perform in the play "Talley's Folly". Schiff, who played the terminally grumpy Toby on WW, has plenty of time on his hands since his TV series "Past Life" was axed by Fox after just three episodes. Sometimes, commercials really annoy us. What are the most annoying commercial spokespeople ever? According to the web site Guyisam.com. these are. Mary from St. Nicholas Hospital told us that taking 1000mg a day of vitamin D will help your circulation, your heart and perhaps keep diabetes away. Vitamin D is most commonly found in milk, but you need a whole lot more daily. A supplement is the best way. Consult with your doctor first. CORRECTION: Every once in awhile the facts in my head get scrambled and I remember something incor, rectly. Yesterday, I mentioned that there were some people that thought the song "Lights" by Journey was geographically inaccurate. I misspoke (SHOCKING!). The song in question wasn't "Lights", it's "Don't Stop Believing" which talks about a girl "born and raised in South Detroit." There is no South Detroit and Steve Perry phrased it that way because he said.it flowed better that way in the song. Thanks to the listener who called and pointed out that "Lights" is actually geographically accurate. I would promise that this will never happen again, but you and I both know better.
3/23/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: "Dancing With The Stars" returned , last night for their spring season. Erin Andrews of ESPN surprised a lot of people, but Buzz Aldrin, not so much. At least none of the co, ntestants have as many frequent flyer miles as Buzz does. A man was dared by some kids to stuff himself down a laundry chute. He took the dare. And got stuck.
3/22/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Reader's Digest has compiled a list of the states with the deadliest roads. Montana is the worst, followed by South Carolina and Louisiana. The state with the deadliest speeding? Alabama.
3/19/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 3/18/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Call me crazy, but I filled out my brackets for the "Big Dance" and my final four turned out to be Ohio State, Kansas State, Purdue and Kentucky, with Ohio State winning the whole deal. I don't watch college basketball much, so don't necessarily read into anything. If you are having a "friendly office competition", you should know who the big winner will most likely be.
3/17/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: Happy St. Patrick's Day. On this day, we honor the man who drove the snakes out of Ireland. Too bad he wasn't still around to drive the rats out of congress. What are some of the biggest fast food failures of all time? Try these. And for the record, I did try the KFC chicken livers and they were pretty good. I think you can still get them off menu. St. Nicholas Hospital is holding a woman's health fair this Saturday at the American Club in Koehler. It runs from 9:30am-3pm and features guest speakers and local vendors.
3/16/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 3/15/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: , Actor Peter Graves has passed away at 83. He had three phases to his career. The first was his seven year run on TV's Mission Impossible as Jim Phelps, the unflappable leader of the MI team. The second was a comic actor in Airplane! as Captain Clarence Oveur. And the third was as a narrator and host of "Biography" on A&E. BTW, did you know his older brother is James Arness who played Marshall Matt Dillon on "Gunsmoke?" 3/12/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: NFL Hall of Famer, actor and all around good guy Merlin Olsen has passed away at 69. If you are older, you remember him along with Deacon Jones, Lamar Lundy and Rosie Greer as a member of the Rams' "Fearsome Foursome" of the 1960's. Following his football career, he segued into acting and announcing, calling Sunday games on NBC with Curt Gowdy and Dick Enberg and appearing in "Little House on the Prairie." Michael Landon created a spin-off for him, "Father Murphy", which lasted just 34 episodes. You may also remember him as a pitchman for FTD Florists.
3/11/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: - ,
These are tough economic times and to survive you have to be creative. Take the case of a man in California. He lost his six figure job and his house due to the economy. He has everything he owns packed in a leased car and uses his air miles to stay in hotels. It's bad enough in this economy that prices for just about everything are going up. It's even worse when some of those taxes or user fees we have to pay are totally unnecessary. Doctors in New York want to tax pizza fifty cents a slice to help pay for heath care for obese people. Do I get a tax credit for ordering a salad?
3/10/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 3/9/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: A man in California hit the accelerator on his Toyota Prius to pass another car on I-8. The accelerator stuck, sending the man on a wild ride at speeds in excess of ninety miles and hour. CHIPS officers got on a loud speaker and instructed the man how to hit his brakes and his emergency brakes, which he did slowing the car down to about fifty MPH. At that point, he shut the car off and it coasted to a stop.
3/8/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 3/5/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: WEB ONLY CONTENT: Yesterday, my twenty year-old daughter Jordan was on national TV. Kind of, sort of. She was in the background when the "Today" show came back from their 8:30am break yesterday. She is in New York with a group from her college working at a soup kitchen, but wanted to see how they taped the Today Show. She told me she shook both Al Roker's and Matt Lauer's hands. While I am proud of her, I did give her a hard time for not being in front of a computer listening to her father on the radio. I actually think I heard her roll her eyes at me over the phone.
3/4/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: There's a movement underway to replace U.S. Grant as the face of the $50 bill with the face of Ronald Reagan. I think since Grant was a huge Civil War hero that would be wrong. Reagan could replace Grover Cleveland on the $1,000 bill. I mean what did Grover Cleveland ever do besides bust strikes? An air traffic controller at New York's JFK Airport was suspended for bringing his young son to work and letting him communicate with a couple of planes. When my daughter Jordan was young, I used to bring her to the radio station and occasionally put her on the air, but this is clearly not the same thing.
3/3/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: You may not be a foodie, but there are lots of foodie words out there that are totally butchered by the general public. Here are some of them along with their proper pronunciation. They've made big screen remakes of just abou, t every significant 60's and 70's TV show, from "Wild, Wild West" to "Mission Impossible" to "The Brady Bunch." Now comes word that the next one coming down the pipe may be "Gilligan's Island." In honor of this, I'd like to act as casting director and suggest a few names for this movie. For the Skipper, I'm going with Kevin James ,John Goodman or Brad Garrett.. For Mr. Howell, how about Ken Howard or Christopher Walken? For Mrs. Howell, Susan Sarandon. For Ginger, Jennifer Anniston or Britney Spears. As the professor, I like Jim Parsons or possibly James Spader. I'm still thinking about Mary Ann and Gilligan. Send me your thoughts.

It's "David" and most people believe that would be entertainment mogul David Geffin, who was Carly's record company president at the time the song was released. Now that this mystery has been solved, let's all figure out what REALLY happened to Jimmy Hoffa. What are America's worst french fries? These are according to Men's Health Magazine. The USA still leads the medal count at the Winter Olympics with 26. Yesterday, Bode Miller had to ski out of his event and the USA took silver in Nordic Combined. Provided there are no more Zamboni issues, hockey gets underway today as the USA meets Russia and the favored Canadians meet Norway. There's also more figure skating, skiing, biathlon and of course, my personal favorite, curling. Here's today's list of events. 2/4/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: A judge has ruled that parts of the 1983 Men at Work hit "Down Under" were lifted from a popular campfire song. Since a publishing company owns the rights to that song, the members of the group owe them boucoup royalties. Godon Gekko was in the wrong business. No industry on earth is greedier and more willing to sue than the music industry. Mel Gibson is in trouble again. Talking to Chicago TV reporter Dean Richards, Gibson got upset when pressed with questions about how his past behavior may affect the public's perception of him.. As a sidebar to this story, when I was in high school and wanted to get into radio, Dean Richards not only spent a lot of time on the phone talking to me about it, he invited me down to the radio station (WFYR) for a tour.
